London, United Kingdom, Monday 5th June 2017 – QS Enterprises Ltd. (QSE) has opened a new cutting edge MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) facility on Chenies Mews, in London’s Bloomsbury.
The Chenies Mews Imaging Centre houses two state of the art MRI scanners from Siemens Healthcare – a 1.5 Tesla “Aera” and a more powerful “Prisma” 3 Tesla scanner, one of only a handful of its kind in the United Kingdom.
The new purpose designed private imaging facility, located off Tottenham Court Road in Central London, offers ultra-high resolution images for both cardiac and neurological imaging examinations. Each of the two news scanners has been upgraded by liaison with manufacturer’s Siemens Healthcare, so that they may allow clinicians to extract more clinically useful information from scans of the heart and brain than ever before. Professor James Moon, Clinical Director of the Chenies Mews Imaging Centre says that:
“When it comes to capability, these scanners are a world first. We won’t be just taking normal scanned images. Instead, we are taking images and then reconstructing them on vast computers to take maximum advantage of massive processing power. With this, we can achieve new methods of quantifying disease whist making the process easier and more comfortable for patients”
In addition to offering new clinical scanning services to both private and NHS patients (including a service for patients with cardiac pacemakers who would usually be unable to undergo MRI safely) the Chenies Mews Imaging Centre will also offer its cutting edge MRI scanners to a new research group from the UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences. This new multi-modality research collaboration will study health, ageing and frailty, offering both clinical care and research at one site.
It is expected that the new facility, which is operated by QS Enterprises, a trading subsidiary of the University College London Hospitals Charity, will scan around 9000 patients per year from both private and NHS referrers, with all profits being donated back to the Charity for the direct benefit of the NHS.
Peter Sutton, QSE’s Manager for Marketing and New Business Development says:
“The Chenies Mews Imaging Centre is the latest addition to the specialist comprehensive clinical services we provide to both private and NHS patients in London. We have a long history of investing in the latest technology to not only provide a high quality clinical service to our private patients, but also provide much needed spare clinical capacity to the NHS and contribute to world leading clinical research. We are extremely proud that unlike any other private enterprise, we donate all profits back to the NHS and can provide our services without taking any resources away from it.”
The new imaging facility is the culmination of years of hard work and QS Enterprises are keen to thank their owners, the UCLH Charity, for allowing the vision to become a reality. The facility is now open and accepting direct referrals. For more information, please see www.cheniesmews.com, or contact the team at referrals@cheniesmews.com.
